Propulsion Systems Engineer

Full-time On-site Engineering

Design and develop next-generation electric propulsion systems. You'll work directly with our StEP technology, running experiments, analyzing performance data, and iterating on prototype designs.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Experience with electric propulsion systems (ion, Hall-effect, or experimental)
  • Hands-on prototype development and vacuum chamber testing experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience at NASA, JPL, or commercial space companies
  • Published research in Aerospace propulsion physics

Embedded Systems Engineer

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3+ years embedded C/C++ development (ARM Cortex, RISC-V, or similar)
  • Experience with real-time operating systems and control loops
  • PCB design and hardware debugging skills

Nice to Have

  • Flight software or aerospace systems experience
  • Familiarity with CAN bus, SpaceWire, or spacecraft communication protocols

Business Development Manager

Requirements

  • 5+ years in business development, government relations, or aerospace sales

  • Existing relationships in the aerospace ecosystem
  • Technical literacy—able to understand and communicate propulsion concepts

  • Experience with SBIR/STTR proposals

Serve as a frontline ambassador for the Vector Space Lines brand. You'll connect individuals and organizations with VSL-branded merchandise—hats, shirts, hoodies, phone covers, mugs, and more—growing awareness of our mission at every touchpoint. This is a commission-based contractor role for someone genuinely excited about the future of space.

Requirements

  • Genuine passion for spaceflight and belief in the promise of VSL's Stellar Electric Propulsion technology
  • Self-starter comfortable working independently and generating your own leads
  • Strong interpersonal skills—comfortable with cold outreach, follow-up, and closing
  • Ability to work provided warm and cold leads while also building your own customer pipeline

Nice to Have

  • Experience in sales, brand promotion, marketing, or community outreach
  • Existing networks within aerospace, STEM, or space-enthusiast communities
  • Comfort with digital outreach via email, social media, and online communities

Compensation

  • Contractor position compensated entirely through sales commission — no base salary
  • Commission rates discussed with qualified candidates during the application process
